In beautiful Zipolite, Mexico, massage students will learn how to perform basic full-body pediatric massage, hydrotherapy techniques, and special techniques for relaxation and sensory stimulation. They will also learn about the growth and development of children, how childhood events such as birth and injuries can affect the child's body, and how these events can initiate musculoskeletal pain and restriction later in life.

Careful, regular massage therapy can significantly improve the quality of life of children with disabilities. At PiƱa Palmera, a working rehabilitation center in the coastal village of Zipolite, students will take advantage of a unique opportunity to learn pediatric massage with a wide variety of children. They will learn how to practice massage with non-disabled children, and also with children who have developmental disabilities such as cerebral palsy, autism and Down's syndrome, and physical disabilities such as epilepsy and spinal cord injury. Children will be evaluated as individuals, in terms of their particular disability and situation, and then massage techniques will be fine-tuned for their needs.

The instructor, Marybetts Sinclair, LMT, is the author of Pediatric Massage Therapy, and has been teaching massage for children at rehabilitation centers in Mexico, Ecuador, and the United States since 1991.
